Our savoir-faire

For nearly 10 years, Ki ET LA has been imagining, designing, manufacturing and distributing sunglasses for children from 0 to 12 years of age. An expertise acquired over the years through the drive of three founders who wanted to revolutionise the market for children's sunglasses. The brand has come a long way since then! A range of UNBREAKABLE glasses for children up to 6 years of age, then an EXTRA FLEX SUN & SCREEN range for 6- to 12-year-olds, a range of ultra-colourful anti-UV hats and clothing! Over the years, Ki ET LA has become the expert in solar protection for children. To find out more about our savoir faire, follow the guide!

DESIGN OF THE COLLECTIONS IN PARIS

All the collections are imagined and designed by the creative Anne-Charlotte Legrand, co-founder and product development director. She is a graduate of the Ecole de Design de Nantes and designs and models the collections in central Paris.

She is passionate about the world of children, always bubbling with ideas and is a driving force pushing Ki ET LA to innovate and reinvent itself with each new day.

The collections are marked by a bright zingy style that always feature smart design, good looks, practicality and comfort. Ki ET LA thinks about the children but also about their parents!

Creativity, design and innovation are front and centre of creation at Ki ET LA.

CREATOR OF SUNGLASSES FOR CHILDREN ON THE MOVE!

Ki ET LA  has been designing collections EXCLUSIVELY for children for nearly 10 years. Following the success of the Diabola model, sunglasses with 2 sizes in one for babies, Ki ET LA has kept up the momentum with a range of UNBREAKABLE sunglasses for children up to 6 years of age and then ULTRA FLEX sunglasses for kids up to 12 years of age.

Ki ET LA continues to design ever more fun and comfortable models for children.

Each day, the design team takes inspiration from iconic adult models and then remodels them for children. Ki ET LA shapes this unique savoir faire with perseverance, dynamism and attention to detail. A true passion!

But what does that actually mean? We’ll explain here!

RIGOROUS MANUFACTURING

It’s a challenge to make a child wear sunglasses. That’s why Ki ET LA designs ultra-light sunglasses that provide the very best protection from UV light but are also ultra-fashionable, to make kids want to wear them!

To ensure unbeatable value for money, product development is carried out according to precise and very demanding specifications, enabling Ki ET LA to take advantage of all the latest technologies relating to injection but also to product compliance.

The choice of materials and finishes is also essential in the development of the collections. The glasses for 0- to 4-year-olds are made of an ultra-flexible material (TPEE) which ensures that the frames are UNBREAKABLE. The models for kids over 4 years of age are designed in PC to ensure that the frames are ultra-light, flexible and hard-wearing. Their EXTRA FLEX hinges enable children to have complete freedom of movement.

From the design stage, to modelling but also through to manufacture, everything is clearly thought out, checked and controlled.

A FIRST STEP TOWARDS MADE IN France

Ki ET LA had been dreaming for several years of relocating part of its production to France.

It took a meeting in 2018 for things to fall into place for the founders. It was in the Oyonnax Valley, the cradle of French spectacle making, that Ki ET LA finally found a reliable partner. In addition to Made in France innovation, which is a big step for Ki ET LA, a design and technical innovation is also conceived: a pair of unbreakable glasses in the shape of a bear cub, injected in one single piece. Something that’s never been seen up to now for the little Breton company!

Thus, it was a first step towards Made in France that marked the start of a long series.

DESIGN & INNOVATION, AT THE HEART OF THE STRATEGY

Ki ET LA places design and innovation at the heart of its strategy. This effort has been rewarded by several labels and awards:

Having already been awarded the fashion Janus for the Kapel hat, Ki ET LA was awarded the health Janus by the French Institute of Design in 2018 for its CraZyg-Zag sunglasses collection for 6- to 12-year-olds.

The Diabolas received the Strategic Design Trophy from the Nantes Atlantique School of Design, for the design of its adaptable unbreakable sunglasses for babies.

It has also received three Top Labels awarded by parent testers from the online review site ConsoBaby. The Diabola sunglasses, the Kapel hat and the Pop anti-UV T-shirt received top ratings from parents, in the ‘Baby’s sunglasses’ and ‘Anti-UV protection’ categories respectively.

The OurS’on Made in France glasses were nominated for the Silmo d’or 2019 in the ‘Children’ category.
