Spending a day by the water with children is not just about soaking up the sun. It is an opportunity to let them explore, invent, move, and above all... have fun with total freedom. At Ki ET LA, we know that our little ones are curious, lively, and full of energy. So here is a selection of fun beach activities adapted to each age group: for babies, 1-4 year olds, and 4-9 year olds.
For babies (under 1 year old)
1. Touching wet sand
Let your baby play with the sand, under supervision: they will be able to grab it, let it trickle between their fingers, or pat it with their hands. Sensory fun guaranteed!
2. Water play in a small basin
Fill a basin or bucket with seawater and let your baby splash around with floating toys. It's refreshing and safe.
3. Watching the sky
Settle down on a towel and point out the clouds, birds, or kites to them. A lovely, calm, and sensory activity.
4. Sensory hand games
Offer simple games with their hands or feet in the sand: tapping, scratching, drawing patterns. Ideal for gently stimulating their senses and motor skills.
5. Shell touch-and-feel
Introduce them to small natural objects (shells, smooth pebbles, dried seaweed) to invite them to explore new textures with their hands.
For 1-4 year olds: active adventurers.

1. Super sandcastles
Suggest that your children make sand cakes or castles. Get the necessary equipment ready: buckets, shovels, or even the caps from our glasses made in France which can be used to make animal-shaped sand cakes!
2. Collecting "treasures"
Shells, pebbles, driftwood, funny-looking seaweed... Grab a small bag and go together to look for natural objects to observe, and why not use them for decoration back home.
3. Paddling by the water’s edge
When the sea is calm, they can walk in the water, jump, and fill buckets. Under constant supervision, of course!
4. Hide-and-seek behind towels
A classic! Towels, umbrellas, or bags become hiding spots for games filled with laughter.
5. Fun races
Challenge them to get to a set point (a bucket, a towel, a shell) by crawling, running, walking backward, or moving in funny ways.
For 4-9 year olds: great explorers

1. Shore fishing (if the beach permits)
Go on an adventure with the right gear (fishing net, bucket, boots, sunscreen...) and teach your children how to go shore fishing. And above all, remember to teach them about how tides work and marine conservation!
2. Ball game or paddleball
A ball or a pair of paddles is enough to start an improvised game on the beach. They love running in the sand! So, take the opportunity to share a family moment!
3. Scavenger hunt
Give them a list of items to find: something round, blue, soft, broken... They love looking, comparing, and discussing their finds.
4. Obstacle course
Weaving between buckets, jumping over pebbles, crawling under towels... A dynamic activity that they always enjoy.
5. Building a hut
A hole in the sand, sticks to mark the perimeter, a towel for a roof: that’s their hideout for the whole afternoon.
