Ki ET LA dans Les Maternelles XXL : nos chapeaux et maillots de bain anti-UV à l’honneur

Ki ET LA on Les Maternelles XXL: our UV-protective hats and swimwear in the spotlight

Table of contents:

In June 2026, Ki ET LA had the pleasure of being one of the brands featured on France 5's Les Maternelles XXL. It was a wonderful spotlight for our sun protection products, featuring several iconic pieces from our collections: the Fun Pink Bucket Hat, the Animal/Blue Playsuit, and the Cha Cha Pop 5-Panel Cap.

We are obviously very happy about this television appearance. But above all, it represents a great opportunity to talk about a subject that has been particularly close to our hearts since the creation of Ki ET LA: how to better protect children from the sun, without asking them to stay quietly in the shade all day?

Because children run, play, jump in the water, build sandcastles, take off their hats… then put them back on five minutes later. In short, they live their kid lives.

It is precisely for this "real life" that we design our anti-UV clothing and accessories: technical, practical, and colorful products designed to accompany children on all their outdoor adventures.

Ki ET LA on France 5's Les Maternelles XXL

Les Maternelles is a well-known program for parents and families. So, seeing Ki ET LA appear on Les Maternelles XXL regarding the topic of sun protection touched us deeply.

This spotlight helps more families discover our world and our way of designing products for children: sun protection thought out down to the smallest detail, but always with a good dose of fun.

In this segment, several Ki ET LA products are highlighted, including pieces from our collection of anti-UV clothing and accessories.

Among them is the Fun Pink Bucket Hat, our anti-UV hat for babies and children from 0 to 12 years old, recognizable by its vibrant color and sporty look. It combines UPF50+ protection, a built-in UV sensor, and an adjustable strap to keep it in place. For the little ones, there is also a system to attach Ki ET LA sunglasses to the hat using the glasses strap.

Another product presented: the Animal/Blue Playsuit, designed for babies and young children from 0 to 4 years old. With its mid-length sleeves and legs, full-length zip, and UPF50+ protection, it allows for more skin coverage on sunny days at the beach, the pool, or outdoors.

The Cha Cha Pop 5-Panel Cap completes this selection with a style suitable for children aged 2 to 12. With a bolder look, it’s perfect for kids who want to choose their own style.

And as a little extra, the patterns of our Animal/Blue Playsuit and our 5-Panel Cha Cha Pop cap were designed by Charlène, alias Cha Cha Pop, a pattern designer and illustrator with a pop and quirky world.

Because when it comes to sun protection, every detail counts.

The perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover our anti-UV hats, anti-UV swimwear, and sun protection accessories for children

Why choose an anti-UV hat for kids?

A hat is one of the essential habits when a child spends time in the sun. It helps protect particularly exposed areas like the face, ears, and neck.

At Ki ET LA, we have developed different shapes of hats and caps to support children according to their age, activities, and preferences.

Our goal: to make the hat an easy daily habit to adopt.

The Fun Pink Bucket Hat, for example, is designed with UPF50+ protection and features a built-in UV sensor. This little detail was designed to make sun protection more tangible for children.

The sensor changes color according to the UV intensity. When it turns deeper purple, it's a great reminder for kids that it's time to step up their protection: put their hat back on, wear their sunglasses, find some shade, or apply sunscreen on exposed areas.

A simple way to turn sun protection into a small ritual rather than yet another parental command.

And we know how precious that is with children.

Anti-UV kids' swimwear: why choose it?

At the beach or the pool, children often spend several hours outside. Between two swims, the games continue, towels become forts, and sand ends up absolutely everywhere.

Anti-UV swimwear is particularly practical for protecting areas covered by the fabric.

An anti-UV suit or playsuit allows for more skin coverage than a classic swimsuit. This can be particularly interesting for babies and young children, who spend a lot of time playing outdoors.

At Ki ET LA, we wanted to combine this technical dimension with cuts and patterns that make children want to wear their clothes.

The Animal/Blue Playsuit, for example, features the retro, colorful world imagined with illustrator Cha Cha Pop. Its full-length zip also makes dressing and undressing easier, a real practical detail when you need to quickly change a baby between activities.

Because we could talk about sun protection for hours: if the garment is complicated to put on or if the child categorically refuses to wear it, everyday life quickly becomes a struggle for everyone.

UPF50+: what does this protection really mean?

We see the mention UPF50+ appearing more and more often on sun protection clothing and accessories. But what exactly does it mean?

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. It is an index that evaluates a fabric's ability to limit the passage of UV rays through it.

At Ki ET LA, many of our clothes and accessories are designed with UPF50+ protection.

Our anti-UV swimwear, for example, is designed to cover a significant part of the body during aquatic activities. The Animal/Blue Playsuit has UPF50+ protection and a built-in UV sensor.

For parents, these features make it easier to choose an outfit suitable for sunny days.

For children, the idea is much simpler: a swimsuit you love to wear and that allows you to play outside.

Kids' sun protection: the right approach is a combination

An anti-UV hat or anti-UV swimsuit does not replace other protective measures.

To enjoy the sun more safely, we instead suggest a combination of several habits: look for shade when possible, avoid exposure during peak UV hours, cover the skin with appropriate clothing, wear a hat, protect the eyes with suitable sunglasses, and use sunscreen on exposed areas.

This is the comprehensive approach that we champion at KI ET LA.

Our expertise was initially built around sunglasses for children. Since 2010, the brand has gradually developed its world around sun protection with hats, UV-protective clothing, and various accessories.

Today, our collection allows you to put together a complete UV-protective outfit for children: sunglasses, a sun hat or bucket hat, and a UV-protective swimsuit can be paired for protection suited to outdoor activities.

And of course, we don't forget style.

Carefully selected materials

Sun protection is at the heart of our expertise, but we also pay special attention to materials and their traceability.

A portion of our collections is designed using recycled materials, notably recycled polyester. Some of our products also benefit from certifications such as GRS (Global Recycled Standard) or OEKO-TEX, depending on the model.

These certifications help to better regulate the origin and manufacture of the materials used and support us in our goal to design increasingly responsible products.

For us, every detail counts: from the material to the choice of colors, as well as the small details that make a hat or swimsuit truly practical for daily life.

Ki ET LA, a French brand specializing in sun protection for children

Since 2010, Ki ET LA has been creating products designed to support children in their daily lives, with historical expertise in sun protection, particularly sunglasses.

The collections are imagined and designed in France, at our offices near Nantes, then manufactured by partners selected for their expertise and ability to meet our specifications.

This high standard is reflected today in all our categories: sunglasses, sun hats, bucket hats, UV-protective clothing, swimsuits, and accessories.

Over the years, this expertise has also caught the attention of the media. Our sunglasses made in France have been featured on television, while our collections are regularly cited in the specialized and family press.

In 2026, several media outlets covered Ki ET LA and its collections, including Magic Maman, ELLE, Milk Magazine, Marie Claire Enfants, and Doolittle.

This media recognition acknowledges the work of the entire team and our desire to offer families products that are technical, practical, and stylishly designed.

Because for us, sun protection for children should be able to integrate naturally into daily life: reliable and reassuring solutions, designed to protect kids while leaving real room for style.

Ready for the next sunny adventures?

A day at the beach, an afternoon at the pool, or simply a few hours spent outdoors: there is no shortage of opportunities to enjoy the sun during childhood.

To support your kids, remember to put together their outfit with the right essentials: sunglasses, a UV-protective sun hat or bucket hat, and an UPF50+ swimsuit.

And now that you have discovered our products on Les Maternelles XXL, all that’s left is to find them in our collections.
